Fall Brings Out the Nature Lover in Me

Country Sampler Autumn Decorating SIP 2018 - - Editor’s Note - Susan Wagner

When the days shorten and the weather begins to get cool, a subtle change happens for me. I begin to appreciate all the beautiful colors and abundant lushness that nature has to offer. (To be fair, I notice this in the springtime too, but then it’s more about the fresh feeling of new growth.) The autumn-dyed leaves just seem to glow in their deep colors, almost bursting out into the world. Craggy hillsides and musty wooded paths all look like they’ve been brushed with the richest of oil paints. The snap of a twig sounds through the air as clear as a bell. And the breezes—oh, those cool autumn breezes—those definitely are manna to my soul. I’m not sure if you’re as in love with fall as I am, but judging by the fact that you picked up this issue, I think there’s at least a bit of a love affair there. So within these pages, we’re doing whatever we can to make that relationship blossom and grow. You’ll find beautiful photos of autumn floral arrangements and intriguing DIY projects that make use of nature’s abundance—all to help you bring fall’s beauty into your home. But don’t stop there. Warm up your decorating with cozy blankets, throws and pillows. Be inspired by a woodland cabin or a cream-hued cottage. Discover new taste-tempting recipes to try out this Thanksgiving, or host your own fun-filled Friendsgiving (find great ideas on page 26). And for those who like a little more chill down their spine, our special Halloween section is always ready to create a spooky sensation. There’s just something about fall that sparks the senses and livens your days. It is no doubt a magical time filled with nature’s special joys.
