DIP FEATHERS IN GOLD

Country Sampler Autumn Decorating SIP - - Inside - DESIGNED AND PHOTOGRAPHED BY SUMMER HOGAN OF SIMPLESTYLINGS.COM.

You could have this gorgeous garland hanging across your mantel with just a few supplies and instructions from Summer Hogan at Simple Stylings. She used two kinds of inexpensive feathers (less than $4!) from ebay as well as string and gold spray paint that she had on hand. For your garland, lay out your feathers about 3" apart, alternating between large white feathers and darker patterned feathers. Cut white string to that length plus extra for hanging. Apply a dab of hot glue to the tip of each feather and carefully press into place on the string. When dry, spray paint the tips of the white feathers gold, covering the rest of the feather with a thick piece of paper or cardboard while painting.

DESIGNER TIP Protect your work surface, and avoid touching the hot glue until it has dried.
