How to Create a Holiday Tablescape

Country Sampler Holiday Homes December 2018 - - Festive Homes -

“I’m not a crafty person,” says Kim Jacovich, “but I like to play with and work through different ideas for the table.” Here are her tips for creating a rustic- glamorous holiday tablescape:

CHOOSE YOUR TABLECLOTH OR RUNNER FIRST

This base of fabric (or even paper!) will form your backdrop and give cues for what to include in your arrangement.

SELECT ITEMS OF VARYING HEIGHTS

Accents at various levels will create a dynamic look, but make sure all items, including the centerpiece, are short enough to allow for conversation and passing of dishes.

LAY DOWN YOUR GARLAND AND THEN FILL IN

Position the garland, preventing it from hanging over the table edges, and place other items around it. Candles add a soft glow, and artificial snow or metallic paint creates instant wintry glamour.
