Pinecone Chair Decoration

Embellish your dining chairs with charming silver pinecone swags. For each, spray a medium-size pinecone with silver paint and let dry. Insert an eye hook into the top center of the pinecone. Thread a length of holiday ribbon through the eye, wrap around the top rung of the chair, and finish by tying into a bow. Wire two to three branches of fresh greens together and attach to the underside of the bow.

Vintage-style Pillow

Transfer any old-fashioned graphic onto a cotton or linen pillow cover with this simple technique. First, download an image from a website offering copyright-free graphics. Reverse the image, adjust to an appropriate size, and print out using a toner-based printer. Trim around the outer edge of the printed image. Insert a piece of thick cardboard inside your pillow cover to prevent bleed-through. Transfer the image onto the fabric using a transfer medium and following manufacturer’s instructions or tutorials available online. Some areas of the image may appear slightly hazy, but this helps add a vintage look to your piece.

EMBELLISHING NATUREIf you prefer to let some of the natural color of the pinecone remain, dry brush just the edges with silver paint.
