Yourself! CREATE IT
Want to bring some of Carmen Patrick’s vintage floral style to your own home? Try decoupaging a wooden letter with scrapbook paper or crafting this pretty wreath with doilies and paper roses.
Leave a few small areas of the wreath base exposed to reveal sections of the ribbon-wrapped form.
Decoupaged Wooden Letter
Add charm to a gift with this floral letter trimmed with glitter and greens. Trace a wooden letter facedown onto a piece of scrapbook paper and then cut out. Adhere the paper letter to the wooden letter with decoupage medium. Coat the top of the letter with decoupage medium and let dry completely. Use a paintbrush to cover all inside and outside areas of the letter with glue, working in small sections. Sprinkle glitter onto the wet glue. Let dry. Install an eye hook in the top of the letter. Thread with glittered ribbon for a hanger and tuck in sprigs of fresh greenery.
This letter would look just as lovely hanging on a stocking or chair back.
Doily Wreath with Paper Roses
Create a romantic wreath with delicate doilies, paper roses and strands of beads. Wrap a foam wreath form with crochet-like lace ribbon. Pin to secure. Cut similar ribbons into various lengths for lacy flowers. For each, hand-sew along one long edge, leaving extra thread on both sides. Carefully pull thread from both ends to cinch the ribbon and create a flower-like piece. Tie the thread ends together. Attach the ribbon flowers to the wreath with decorative pins. Attach premade paper roses in the same fashion. Drape a beaded necklace trimmed with tassels across the wreath and secure with pins.
