Carmen Patrick loves collaborating with family to create unique furnishings. Here are a few tips she shares on how some of her pieces came into being:
ANTLER ART Even her father’s relentless teasing about ruining a good set of elk antlers did not stop Carmen from creating her unique antler wall art. She painted the elk antlers white and then battered and sanded three 1" x 6" boards to use as a backdrop.
WEE-ONES BENCH Have grandchildren too small to reach the dining room table? Construct a couple of benches, as Jay and Carmen did. Add padding and fun fabric, and top with a nubby hooked rug.
RIGHT WITH WHITE Keep a snow-white backdrop for your Christmas decor by spray painting gaudy furnishings or garage-sale finds with a few cans of white paint. Rust-oleum’s Heirloom White is Carmen’s color of choice.
