Display Dynamics

There are many ways to make the contents of a cabinet stand out, apart from simply lining the shelves.try these tips:

1)Group Project. A gathering of like items can have a greater impact than dissimilar objects. Grouping an assortment of Rosie’s Torquay Mottoware from Devon, England, on one shelf not only looks colorful but also calls attention to the handpainted sayings on some of the pieces, which include “Say little, think much!” on a tiny pitcher and “Lips however rosy must be fed” on a small cup.

2)Bowled Over. Rather than nesting bowls, turn one bowl over and stack another on top to highlight special features, such as spouts, unusual handles, etc.

3)Tone on Tone. Mingle items with similar colors, such as Rosie’s blue-striped Buckeye mugs and pitcher that coordinate with the bluestriped yellowware bowls and pitchers.

4)Be Still. Make your displays come alive with bowls of fresh fruit or realistic-looking facsimiles. Here, Rosie has created a “real” still life using clusters of lush, colorful stone fruit.to vary the height of the bowls, boost some with a painted spice box and provide a bit of visual ballast with pewter pieces set against a serving platter. Incorporate a battery-operated candle for an extra dose of shine.
