Salvaged Pallet Tree

Assemble a quick tree shape like this to hold cards, photos and little bits of holiday goodness. Jamie Lott of Southern Revivals made hers from pallet scraps left over from previous projects. Attach your cut pallet boards together on the back with a single vertical strip nailed or glued in place. On the front of the tree, glue clothespins onto the boards. Decorate the clothespins with a permanent marker. Glue a painted wood slice to the top of the tree. Hang using a D-ring installed on the back of the piece.

Chippy Shutter

When Heather Thibodeau of Heathered Nest found this vintage shutter years ago, she knew she wanted to do something with it, but she wasn't quite sure what. Then its deep green color inspired her to use it as a super simple Christmas card holder. To repurpose your own shutter, cut a piece of cardboard to cover the back and staple it in place. This will protect your walls and keep the cards from slipping through the louvers. Lean the shutter against a wall and then insert your cards. It's that easy!
