Cozy Cover-Ups

- DESIGNED AND PHOTOGRAPHED BY DIANA PETRILLO OF ADIRONDACKGIRLATHEART.COM.

Turn a thrifted scarf into fun gift bags like these from Diana Petrillo of Adirondack Girl at Heart. From a two-ply knitted winter scarf, cut a 15"–16" tube-shaped piece. Turn it inside out and stitch one end closed. To give your bag a flat bottom, pinch and pull a corner apart to form a peak, with the tip of the corner at the top and the seam lines running down the center away from the peak (front and back). Align the front and back seams and pin them together. Sew a seam 1¼" from the tip in a straight line perpendicular to the pinned seam lines. Clip the end. Turn the bag right side out, pop in your favorite bottle of wine or other gift, and tie the top closed with yarn pompoms or ribbon.
