Sign of the Season

Lend a graphic touch to a countertop or shelf vignette with inexpensive and easyto-make lettered blocks. Cut pieces of scrap wood into blocks of the same size and apply a light dusting of white spray paint. Paint chipboard letters a cheerful Christmas red; when they are dry, glue the letters to the front of the blocks. Follow the lead of Marty Walden of Marty's Musings and spell out “noel,” or substitute your favorite word or holiday sentiment.
