Filled to the Brim

Festive red-and-green plaid ribbon, cream and gold accents and oversize wooden snowflakes give this lightly flocked tree an abundant look that's overflowing with cheer. Jennifer Voelkel of The Craft Patch blog says the inspiration for the tree started with the plaid ribbon and then just snowballed from there. She wrapped the tree horizontally with the ribbon, tucking it into loops in the branches, and then wound a smaller red pom-pom garland around the boughs as well. She popped red berry sprigs into various spots and hung shimmering balls and wooden star ornaments here and there among the greenery. A Fa La La banner even finds a spot near the top. But the wow factor comes from the oversize snowflakes. Only a few are needed to make the tree really stand out.
