Weathered Wood Napkin Ring

-

Two unfinished wood pieces are aged and then attached to create this rustic napkin ring. With a damp rag, rub a wood appliqué and a napkin ring with brown aging wax. When dry, rub white finishing wax into recessed areas and along the edges to highlight them. Darken the flat areas by rubbing with an additional coat of brown aging wax. Pre-drill a small hole through the center of the napkin ring and the appliqué. Insert a rustic-finish metal tack and then trim excess from the stem. Secure the tack in place with hot glue. Cover the metal end inside the napkin ring with a drop of hot glue.
