METALLIC PRESSED TIN
Let your backsplash gleam with shiny pressed-tin tiles featuring an ever-popular pattern like this Victorian diamond-and-floral design. The cool metallic tone works well in white kitchens, and the raised surfaces offer lots of texture. The tiles come in larger panels made from a variety of materials, including tin-plated steel, aluminum and rigid PVC. If you choose an unfinished metal, be sure to apply a coat of polyurethane before installation to prevent oxidation. Then, cut the panels to fit using tin snips, and glue them to the wall with a quick-holding construction adhesive. Finish by sealing the seam at the counter with clear silicone caulk to avoid water getting behind the panels.
