• Use plain yogurt in place of sour cream. You could even sub in Greek yogurt for more protein. • Choose brown rice or whole-wheat pasta for your starchy component. If you’re topping a dish with mashed potatoes, consider using mashed sweet potatoes.

• Add in vegetables. Most recipes will come together fine with extra veggies. Mix in broccoli or mushrooms, or layer in zucchini or squash slices.
