After she takes down all the Christmas decor, Marcia Burton of Pennsylvania gives the area around her living room fireplace a makeover that reflects the January weather, including adding artwork featuring a winter scene, lanterns filled with snowy candles, and a host of snowman figures cavorting amid white pip berries.

New Jersey resident Sandie Jackowski assembles holiday vignettes that are festive, yet flexible enough that they can remain on display well into the new year. “I so enjoy the holiday season and decorating with antique finds,” she says. “I decorate my mantel with redware and Christmas greens with fruit. Since artificial fruit is amazingly so real-looking now, I can leave it out from December to January. I love the Williamsburg look!” An artist, she also incorporates her oil paintings, placing them on primitive cupboards amid other decorations.

Sherri Calvert of Illinois enjoys decorating her porch for the seasons and shares how she updates it after the holidays. “My front porch greets visitors with things that say ‘winter’—a cozy red-and-black blanket, an old sled and a pair of old ice skates, which are all antiques-store finds. The little black kerosene heater filled with a string of red lights hints at the need for a warm fire, and although I am no longer a big fan of heavy snowstorms, my winter decor isn’t complete without snowmen!”
