Christmas is, by far, the time of year when our homes experience the most beautiful of all seasonal transformations. Once Thanksgiving festivities end and the calendar page flips to December, the rich golden hues rooted in autumn accessories make way for the cheery red and green palette that brings us a sense of joy and a celebratory mood.

Much like how we redecorate our homes from top to bottom with sparkling trimmings, trees and displays, the Country Sampler staff has been freshening up our look and adding new content to the magazine. Here are highlights of what you will see in this issue and what to expect in future editions:

Country Homes Showcase: The home tours that you have come to love over the years have been enhanced and expanded with larger photos, more tips, and design elements that point out unique ideas in each home. This time, we bring you five festive homes that are decked out in holiday finery. (See pages 26–94.)

Refresh & Renew: Content in this new section emphasizes repurposing, simple DIY projects and before-and-after makeovers of everyday goods. Turn to “Wreath Revival” on pages 8–13 to see how Country Sampler stylist René Haines designed five easy-to-recreate wreaths in various country styles.

Standout Spaces: Articles in this new section focus on ways to make the most of unique elements found in areas such as kitchens, entryways and bedrooms. This month, we showcase common objects reused as bases for trees large and small that will bring Christmas cheer to every space. (See “An Ace of a Base” on pages 20–24.)

Living the Life: In upcoming issues, we will introduce our new “Living the Life” section, which will feature interesting places that promote a simple lifestyle, tips for fostering a cozy country aesthetic, gorgeous salvaged gardens, favorite down-home recipes, and much more!

Home Decor Lookbook: You’ll find decorative accessories and furnishings for purchase in this revamped advertising section that’s more readerfriendly and easy to navigate.
