Whether you save the holiday cards you receive or have leftovers from past years’ mailings, their sturdy paper decked with colorful designs is the perfect fodder for ornaments and gift tags. Select cards that feature iconic designs, such as reindeer, trees, birds and Santa. Snip out the desired motifs with scissors and then use a paper punch to create a hole in the top of the cutout. Tie on a twine or ribbon hanger. If you find one motif you’d like to repeat and you don’t have multiples, copy the design onto card stock. Hang the finished products from a tree, garland or wreath, or attach them to gifts.
