NEW YEAR NEW IDEAS

With 2020 coming to a close soon and 2021 on the horizon, it’s time to start thinking about the months ahead and planning for new decorating opportunities that are sure to present themselves as we spend more of our idle time reading, watching home improvement shows and browsing the internet.

As I mentioned in my last note in our November issue, we have been anything but idle here at Country Sampler during the past year. Since early last spring, we have been researching and compiling ideas that enhance the home tour articles that have been a mainstay of this magazine.

We are excited to now introduce our “Living the Life” section in this issue, where we feature a delightful interview with Ashley L. Jones, the author of

Modern Cast Iron, a new book that shares practical tips about caring for and using this classic cookware, heartfelt family stories, and tasty recipes that take advantage of the benefits cast-iron cooking offers. (See “A Modern Classic,” beginning on page 20.)

We also have included in this section a few recipes that are sure to become delicious additions to your winter menu, from savory and hearty stuffed meatballs to sweet vanilla chai hot chocolate. (See “Winter Warm-Ups,” beginning on page 26.)

In upcoming issues, we plan to bring you articles about interesting places that promote a simple lifestyle, tips for fostering a cozy country aesthetic, gorgeous salvaged gardens, and much more!
