PRETTY POCKETS

-

These easy-to-make wall pockets can hold everyday accents or a burst of seasonal greenery. The abstract snowflake design helps to usher in winter alongside other frosty accents, and the soft quilt fabric offers a warm and cozy touch. As with the other snowflake-inspired crafts, contrast the wintry shades with greens to breathe fresh life into your aesthetic. Follow these instructions to make your own wall pocket:

Materials

• 11" x 12" wood board (back of pocket) • 8" x 11" wood board (front of pocket) • 2" x 11" wood strip (bottom of pocket) • Two 8" spindles, painted white and distressed

• 10" x 13" quilt remnant

• 11/2" flathead wood screws

• 1" wood screws or small nails

• Hot glue gun and glue sticks

• Drill and bits

• White paint, sandpaper and dark wax

Instructions

1. Paint, distress and wax the 11" x 12" board that will be used for the back and the 2" x 11" strip that will be used for the bottom.

2. On the 11" x 12" board, drill a hole in the center at the top for hanging.

3. Hot glue a spindle on each side of the board, flush with the bottom. When dry, secure each spindle from the back of the board with 11/2" flathead wood screws.

4. Attach the 2" x 11" strip to the bottom of the spindles with 1" wood screws or nails.

5. Fold the quilt piece around the 8" x 11" board like a present. Hot glue the fabric ends to the back of the wrapped board and let dry. (Since this board will be covered, it can be left unpainted.)

6. Hot glue the quilt-wrapped front piece onto the spindles and bottom strip and then allow your creation to dry.
