SWEET TOUCH

- MICHELLE MASTRO Written by RENÉ HAINES Designed and Styled by

For those who love country kitchen tools, this painted cutting board offers up a bold graphic. Find a round cutting board or breadboard that complements your style. Sand down any cuts and other wear and tear that will be under your pattern. Transfer a quilt design onto the board and then paint with three colors that match the frosty scene outdoors. (This one is based on an Ohio star quilt block. The board measures 101/2" across, so we divided that number by three to come up with 31/2" squares.) Tape off the design in sections and paint one color at a time, starting with the lightest color. Remove the tape while the paint is still wet for crisp lines. When dry, tape and paint your next color. Your finished piece will be an eye-catching addition to a cupboard shelf.
