BUNCHES OF FUN
Usher in springtime celebrations with inexpensive DIY decorative accents that are ripe with colorful gatherings of carrots.
Show Some Swag
Set a seasonal scene at your doorstep by hanging up a rope swag adorned with handmade twine carrots.
To begin this project, simply roll canvas or fabric banner triangles into a cone shape and apply hot glue along the edge to secure. Fill each cone with polyester batting to provide a firm carrot shape.
Beginning at the bottom of each cone, add a drop of hot glue and then wrap with orange twine, leaving no gaps. As you reach the top, tighten the coil, and leave extra twine and an opening at the top to insert the greens.
Cut various lengths of green twine and insert into each carrot top, hot gluing in place. Wrap the extra orange twine around the top of the carrot to close off the area around the greens. Tuck in the end and hot glue into place.
Cut a length of thick rope and brush lightly with white paint. Create a loop near the top and secure with hot glue and a length of twine. Gather the carrots near the center of the greens and wrap with twine, leaving additional twine to attach the carrots to the rope hanger.
Complete the look by attaching a bow made of multiple layers of gingham ribbon.
Line ’Em Up!
This vase of bright orange carrots is sure to become a tempting topper for a side table or kitchen island or a charming foundation for a dining room centerpiece. The trick to constructing this pretty arrangement is to center a narrow cylinder vase inside a larger glass cylinder. Use faux carrots, silk flowers and ferns for a worry-free setup. Insert carrots lined up side by side to fill the space between the vases. Use clear tape to secure the carrot greens to the vase’s rim to ensure the carrots stand upright. Mimic oversize carrot tops by adding ferns and a few stems of Queen Anne’s lace to the inner vase. Add a burlap bow edged with orange as a finishing touch.
