Learn how to upcycle a basic picture frame and out-of-service drawers into clever showcases for colorful seed packets and small gardening tools.

Embellish a Frame with Seed Packets

Display the beauty of vintage seed-packet graphics on a wide-edge photo frame. Use decoupage medium to cover the outside of the frame with seed packets, printed images or patterned paper. For a cleaner look, cover the frame with acetate printed with seed-packet images. Print and cut out a garden-inspired phrase; make one word into a large tag, and frame the others with metal bookplates (typically found at hobby stores). Use hot glue to adhere miniature tools to the front of the frame. Glue the bookplates below the photo opening and tie the tag onto the tool handles. Insert a real seed packet into the photo opening or add your own garden-inspired photo.

Group Garden Mementos on a Wall

Create scrapbook-style arrangements of colorful seed packets and garden tools in small drawers hung on the wall as shadow boxes. Cut pieces of foam board slightly smaller than the inner dimensions of each drawer. Wrap the foam board pieces with fabric and then use hot glue to adhere the fabric-covered boards inside the drawers. Secure lightweight mementos to the fabric backing with pins or tacks; adhere heavier pieces with hot glue. Hang the drawers in an eye-pleasing arrangement on the wall using picture hangers.
