Mind the Gap
Areas adjacent to doorways, portals and pass-throughs sometimes can be difficult to decorate. Try your hand at these ideas to turn challenging spots into interesting focal points:
Install a screen door in an interior opening to enhance a space with instant architectural character, as Jan did in her living room.
Create a vignette on the wall beside the screen door that echoes the door’s rustic finish.
Put up an oversize peg rack and display a few farm goods, such as a basket, harnesses, and reins rescued from a barn.
Arrange an armchair, cupboard and lamp beneath the peg rack to create a cozy reading nook.
For a finishing touch, accent the space with artwork and florals.
