Give feathered friends a place to rest and refresh with our easy and inexpensive do-it-yourself hanging birdbath project.

Materials

• Large terra-cotta saucer

• Large grapevine wreath

• Roll of artificial sheet moss (optional)

• Sturdy rope

• Jute string

• S-hook

• Artificial ivy

• Artificial flowers

• Medium-size rocks

• Scissors

• Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Instructions

1. Choose a wreath with an opening that is large enough to fit and support the saucer.

2. Wrap a length of decorative moss around the wreath, if desired.

3. Cut three equal-length pieces of rope to use for hanging the birdbath. Tie one length of rope to the wreath using double knots, and then hot glue the short leftover end to the long length of rope to keep the knots from unraveling. Attach the other two ropes in the same manner, equally spacing them around the wreath.

4. Cut a length of jute string and tie it with a double knot to each rope just above the main knots. Wrap the string around the rope several times to cover up the hot-glued piece from Step 3 and tie in place.

5. Gather the ends of the three ropes and tie them into a knot to form a loop for the S-hook.

6. Wrap a length of jute string around the knot to hide it, if desired. Tie or hot glue the string to the rope.

7. Insert artificial ivy and flowers into the wreath. Hot glue them in place, if desired.

8. Place some rocks in the saucer as perches for the birds. Then fill the birdbath with water, hang it outdoors, and wait for your feathered friends to flock to their new watering hole!
