Instructions

1. Drill two holes large enough for the rope on the top left and right sides of the watermelon cutout.

2. Apply green paint to the curved edge of the cutout to represent the rind and let dry.

3. Apply red paint to the cutout, leaving a narrow band above the green paint and let dry.

4. Apply white paint between the red and green sections and let dry.

5. Use a stencil to create the Welcome message and draw on watermelon seeds in black paint and let dry.

6. Apply wood stain over the whole sign using a foam brush and wipe off with a cloth rag to give the piece an aged appearance, if desired.

7. Lay several Queen Anne’s lace and berry sprays end to end. Overlap or cut the stems, if necessary, for the correct length, and then wrap with wire to hold them together.

8. Tie the patriotic ribbon into a bow and use a wire to secure it to the center of the flower stems.

9. Feed the rope through the holes and knot each end on the front side of the cutout to create a hanger.

10. Attach the flowers and bow to one side of the rope with wire.
