Country Sampler

Harvest TIME

Create a welcoming country garden with a festive seasonal garland. Here’s how to create this look in three easy steps:

-

1. Position two tall shepherd’s hooks about a foot or two apart next to a fence or gate.

2. Make corn shocks by tying several artificial or natural cornstalks together with raffia or string to create a variety of large and small bunches. Next, tie the shocks in place around the poles to conceal the metal.

3. Hang one or more felt, cloth, paper or metal garlands from one hook to the other. For a bit of color, tuck a few yellow, orange and gold faux leaves into the corn shocks.

?? ?? Right: “Seasonal groupings outside add to the quaint and cozy country style that I’ve tried to create,” Cindy shares. For this charming vignette, she filled a primitive European goat wagon with colorful pumpkins, corn and gourds and then popped an antique wagon wheel into the middle. As a backdrop, Cindy propped up an old metal headboard that serves as a sign holder.
