Put a Ring on It

Paper-chain garlands are a favorite old-fashioned DIY decoration that dates back to grammarschool crafting days, but you can give the idea a sophisticated update by using glittery filigree ribbon. Cut an equal number of red and silver ribbon pieces, each about 12" long. Fold over one red ribbon piece to create a loop, overlapping the end by about 1/4" to 1/2" while matching up the filigree pattern. Hot glue the ribbon together. Run a silver ribbon piece through the red loop, overlap the ends to line up the filigree pattern, and glue in place. Continue adding on ribbon loops in alternating colors until you reach your desired length. Accent the lacy rings with a few shimmering red bows.
