Think Inside the Box

Reimagine a divided fruit crate as a compact bookshelf. Brush on chalky-finish paint and let dry. Use stencils to make grain-sack striping on the shelves and sign-style lettering on the exterior. Finish the wood with a coat of wax. Consider installing small casters on the bottom of the crate to create rolling storage for books, plants or antiques.
