A Cut Above

Upcycle a small cutting board and metal box into a wall pocket that’s perfect for hosting greenery and berries. Paint the board with black chalky-finish paint and let dry. Position a buffalo-check stencil on top of the board on the diagonal, and apply red paint. Add a layer of wax to seal the surface. Stencil a white snowflake onto the front of a galvanized-metal box, finishing with spray sealer. Attach the box to the board using a small screw, making sure the bottom of the board and the box are flush if you choose to stand the piece on a flat surface rather than hang from a wall. Adorn the box with pine clippings and berries as a nod to the winter season.
