ENGLISH ADVERTISING POTS

-

Use a flower frog as a photo holder, and pair it with a cloche to bolster the effect.

A DISCERNING EYE: “Antique English advertising pots are one of my favorite things to collect,” Amy shares. “While I’ve been collecting for about four years, recently I’ve really tried to focus on quality over quantity. Apart from the Dundee marmalade shown here, the other pieces are fairly rare, especially the oval carbolized toothpaste pot. Advertising pots are never cheap, but their value has gone up immensely from when I first started collecting due to the surge in popularity and increasing scarcity.”

DESIGN RECIPE: Books with artful covers act as risers for a grouping of advertising pots, backed by a transferware platter with a complementary floral motif.

INSIGHTS: “I chose the books shown in this vignette to highlight the bits of color in the other items. Normally I like to have a color theme with my books, but in this case, I wanted something different and coordinated the books with the rest of the display instead of solely with each other. Old family photos are very important to me. This old photo is of my maternal grandparents taken on their wedding day. They lived through a lot together, but I love seeing their young smiles. Photographs help keep the memories alive.”
