IRONSTONE PITCHERS AND WOODEN BUTTER PADDLES
MADE TO LAST: Ironstone was a porcelain alternative created in the United Kingdom in the early 19th century and was meant to be sturdy and affordable. “I love collecting ironstone for three main reasons—its utilitarian nature, unmatched durability and timeless look,” Melissa says. “Ironstone was made to be used, and with so many different pieces created, I can enjoy it in spaces beyond my kitchen. And, of course, there’s just something about a crisp white. It will never go out of style.”
NATURAL TONES: Brushes, a sieve and various wooden utensils contribute earthy hues to a grouping that relies heavily on white.
INSIGHTS: “Woods and whites make for a timeless combination. I’m often met with a puzzled look when I share that my favorite color is white, but it’s a color that goes with anything and everything! When putting together this vignette, I wanted to showcase some pieces that have stood the test of time. These ironstone pitchers are just a sampling from a large collection. These were thrifted, found at antiques stores, small shops and on Etsy. The wallpaper brushes were both garage-sale finds as well as gifted.”
