BLUE GLASS BOTTLES

-

EXPERT ADVICE: “I only ever clean the outside of blue glass bottles, so as to not alter the patina on the inside,” Melissa notes. “Each bottle has aged uniquely, and the wear on each one adds character.”

SUPPORTING ACTOR: A petite riser shelf both focuses the vignette and arranges the pieces neatly.

INSIGHTS: “This vignette was put together to display a collection that was born in Vermont—vintage blue glass bottles.

A few of these were also found in Ohio and Michigan. When collecting these bottles, I’m never interested in rarity or maker’s marks, but rather, shape, size and color. Variety creates curiosity. Winterberry sprays and green wreaths are a great way to add a natural, festive element to a space. This wreath was a $1.99 thrift-store find.”

Layer unexpected items within a vignette, such as a small animal figure tucked into the backdrop.
