Hoop Dreams

-

Think beyond a standard wreath form that features greenery by reproducing a hobnail effect using split wood beads on an embroidery hoop. Michelle James of Our Crafty Mom employed some of her crafting room stash to fashion a lovely spring accent. Glue a length of jute rope to the inside edge of a 10" embroidery hoop. This decorative edge provides a wider base for the beads. With a glue gun, adhere flat-backed unfinished wood beads to the entire front edge of the hoop, starting at the top center. For this project, Michelle used 38 20-millimeter beads. Leave a small space between the first and last beads for the fabric hanger. Wire or glue on a few spring-colored faux flowers at the bottom of the hoop. Tie on a slip of lace to serve as a hanger, and let this wreath adorn a door or layer it on a window or mirror.
