WINDOW SEAT

-

Bring a little bit of the outdoors into your home with a hanging plant rack that will enhance the view outside a window.

René had two same-size metal trays in her accessories stash that featured different designs and colors, but an idea sparked when she found a bundle of vintage hangers at a flea market. René liked the top tray’s original yellow hue and bird motif, but opted to apply complementary paint and scrapbook paper to the bottom tray for this project.

To fashion a similar plant rack, gather your own trays and drill or punch a hole in each corner. Determine how much space you would like between the trays and the hanger, and then cut two matching lengths of rope. Drape both ropes over the hanger and staple them in place on the front and back sides. Hot glue a bold rickrack ribbon over the rope on both sides of the hanger to hide the staples. Thread the rope through the holes in the trays, securing the trays in place with small metal rope clips that can be tightened in place with a wrench. René spray-painted her rope clips before installing. Separate the ends of the rope to form tassels, and trim the ends as needed. Place small potted plants, garden-themed accents and decorative stones on the rack, and display in a sunny window.
