ALLEY OF COLOR
Edge a garden bed in a unique way by lining up bowling balls as a border to corral plants and other reclaimed goods. To set up a clever architectural element, screw a weathered box to the bottom of an antique door, and then secure the door to a fence for stability. Paint an old frame and hang it on the door to call attention to a ceramic wall pocket filled with vivid foliage. Balance the grouping with a galvanized tub and tall chicken feeder that are overflowing with plants as well as a large metal rooster sculpture that rocks in the breeze. Dress up a chain-link fence with aged wood snow fencing to obscure views and increase warm texture. “I’m all about the aesthetics,” Linda explains. “I like to have a backdrop behind objects for the overall effect.”
Prevent the bowling balls from rolling by setting them atop plastic flowerpots buried at ground level.
