SING FOR THEIR SUPPER
Ring the dinner bell in a decorative way with a tablescape that embodies the classic “Jingle Bells.” The guests of honor are, of course, several large-scale metal bells featured in the centerpiece. Because the bells here are slightly different styles, Carolynn chose to paint them for cohesion, applying a rusty-finish spray paint and then lightly dry brushing white chalkyfinish paint over the earthy tone. To construct an expansive arrangement, unfurl a burlap runner for a base and top it with a garland of flocked greenery. Wind a wide red ribbon through the garland, pinching the ribbon here and there and fluffing it out to produce a sense of movement. Add another layer of sparkle with a strand of battery-operated lights, and nestle the jingle bells into the garland in a pleasing organic design. A metal sign provides a touch of rustic while underscoring the tune.
