FRESH BLANKET OF SNOW
Amass a forest of bottle-brush trees done up in holiday finery for a “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” tableau. Carolynn chose trees in hues that coordinated well together—green, silver, old gold, white and ivory. Inspired to inject a bit of glamour, she attached vintage jewelry and glittered ribbon to a few of the trees. “Some of the trees already were sparkly on their own, but some of them needed a little bit of help,” she says. Begin by layering silver trays on a sideboard, and settle trees into pewter mugs and silver pitchers to amp up the sparkle. Make a seasonal sign by painting wood die-cut letters, dusting with glitter, and adhering them to a tart pan when dry. Add galvanized deer, artwork featuring a winter landscape and candle sconces to finish the look. Carolynn’s handsigned Billy Jacobs “Christmas Barn” print is flanked by sconces that were originally stained wood; she painted the sconces black and adorned them with star ornaments and candle rings she crafted from scraps of greenery and trims.
