Contemporary kitchens receive high marks for convenience, but it can take effort to inject character. Emily Baker of My Weathered Home instills warmth in her space by settling a poplar cupboard she bought at auction on an open section of countertop. Inside, she exhibits her preferred kitchen collectibles, from yellowware to butter molds, the finds she chooses to keep rather than resell at her booth at a local shop. “You’ll find a ‘snapshot’ of some of my favorite things currently,” Emily notes. “The things on these shelves change from time to time, as I love to twirl them in and out as I see fit, but what won’t ever change is the idea of using things that I hunt for and love.” The interplay of textures and materials keeps the arrangement visually interesting and directs attention from shelf to shelf.
