Just a Dollop
Bigger isn’t always better when it comes to vignettes, because smaller-scale versions can still produce loads of charm and impact. Collectibles enthusiast Alexis Sapp of The Little House Finch sorts wooden spoons by height within a salt-glazed batter jug and dots them with miniature roses for delicate contrast. “I find these primitive everyday workhorses to be exceptionally beautiful! I have dozens of wooden spoons and no two are alike—shape, wear, coloring and even burn marks. The quality and craftsmanship that went into these older daily use pieces has always captivated me,” Alexis reflects. “My husband, Eric, and I try to go treasure hunting every weekend. We both love the thrill of the hunt, and I just love thinking about the history of an item and who previously used and loved it.”
