Timeless Fabric

-

While windows are the typical place in a kitchen to incorporate fabrics, open under-sink areas can benefit from a textile treatment like this one fashioned by Anita Diaz of Whispering Pines Homestead. “I’m always making new sink skirts out of scraps of fabric, and for spring, I brought back out a favorite floral,” Anita says. Her newest creation features P. Kaufmann Queensland fabric in crimson, which she bought after falling in love with the print online. “After I first blogged it, people started telling me they had this fabric in the 1990s, having had sofas, curtains, etc., out of this print,” Anita explains. Paired with sheer lace curtains, the sink covering lends dramatic color and pattern against the neutral wood finishes and the charming, countryinspired elements.
