Turn a simple bushel basket into a country-chic tree collar.

Hang up that old tree skirt and anchor your pine in a tree collar this year. This simple DIY version will have your Christmas tree sitting pretty in no time.

Turn a secondhand bushel basket upside down and bend the handles up so the basket sits flat. Using a craft knife or other sharp cutting tool, cut the bottom of the basket out. Smooth any rough spots with sandpaper. Mix equal parts of white latex paint with water and apply on the basket with a paint brush. Wipe the excess with towel to create a whitewashed effect.
