DIRECTIONS

1. For rose flowers, freehand cut circles from sheet music. Starting at the outer edge of each circle, cut a spiral shape, keeping the width of the cut the same size and working toward center. Leave a small circle uncut in the center of the spiral.

2. Starting with the tail on the outer edge of the circle, roll the length of the spiral to the small circle in the middle. 3. Holding the roll lightly, allow the petals to loosen, creating a rose. Place a drop of hot glue on the center circle and adhere the edges of the spiral to the center. 4. Hot-glue a floral stem to the bottom of the rose. Hot-glue a pearl or gem in the center of the flower.

5. For the five-petal flowers, start with an origami shape called kusudama. For that, cut five same-sized squares from the sheet music.

6. Fold one square in half diagonally, making a triangle. With the folded edge of the triangle at the bottom, fold the triangle’s bottom corners up to the point, making a square again.

7. Fold each previous fold halfway back lengthwise, meeting the edges of the square. This will create two skinny triangles lying on top of and aligned with the edges of the square. Open up each skinny triangle to create two diamond shapes on top of the triangle. 8. Fold the point of each diamond forward so the fold aligns with the edge. 9. Fold each edge of the outer triangles back up (along the folds you’ve already made) to form a square again.

10. Apply hot glue along the edge of the righthand folded triangle, and fold the square so the two small triangles adhere to each other. Don’t crease the back of the square in folding it over.

11. Repeat the process four times, forming four more petals. Hot-glue each petal to one another, forming a circle of petals.

12. Hot-glue a floral stem to the bottom of the flower. Hot-glue a pearl or gem into the center of the flower.
