Italian Turkey Burgers

Seasoned with oregano and Parmesan cheese, these burgers are a savory change-of-pace entree. I like to serve them on crusty Italian bread with warmed spaghetti sauce, but you can also use hamburger buns. —MARY TALLMAN ARBOR VITAE, WI

¹₄ cup canned crushed tomatoes 2 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese ¹₂ tsp. garlic powder ¹₂ tsp. dried oregano ¹₄ tsp. salt ¹₄ tsp. pepper 1 lb. ground turkey 8 slices Italian bread, toasted ¹₂ cup meatless spaghetti sauce, warmed

1. In a large bowl, combine the first 6 ingredient­s. Crumble the ground turkey over the mixture and mix well. Shape into four ¾-in.-thick oval-shaped patties.

2. Moisten a paper towel with cooking oil; using long-handled tongs, lightly coat the grill rack. Grill patties, uncovered, over medium heat or broil 4 in. from the heat on each side until a thermomete­r reaches 165° and juices run clear, 6-8 minutes.
