My hus­band and I pulled over at the lower end of Lake McDon­ald in Mon­tana’s Glacier Na­tional Park for one last look be­fore leav­ing. The clouds briefly lifted, ex­pos­ing the base of the peaks we’d been try­ing to see all through­out that gray, win­try day.
