Mountain Magic

RUGGED PEAKS, small glaciers, abundant wildlife and a multitude of hiking trails make the Indian Peaks Wilderness one of my favorite areas of northern Colorado. One morning I hiked the short trail to Long Lake in time to capture the pinkish orange light, or alpenglow, of a Rocky Mountain sunrise. The trail continues upward to Lake Isabelle, another fine example of the crystal clear alpine lakes scattered throughout the Indian Peaks.
