MESA VERDE NATIONAL PARK

-

WITH STRUCTURES BUILT more than 1,400 years ago, Mesa Verde National Park has been described as the pyramids of North America. The site houses hundreds of cli dwellings. Built by ancestral Puebloans, they are as dramatic today as when they were created. The Cli Palace (above) is among the most impressive structures, containing 150 rooms and 23 kivas (religious rooms). Built to house about 100 people, this cli dwelling is one of the best-known examples of the more than 5,000 archaeological sites and 600 cli dwellings that make up Colorado’s Mesa Verde National Park.
