What the brewer says

“Lizard’s Mouth is an IPA for IPA lovers. Not shy with hops, Brewmaster AJ Stoll uses a proprietary blend of tropical-fruit hops. This new release is bursting to the gills with fruity goodness: powerful aromas of guava, passion fruit, orange zest, and pine cascade into tropical hops flavors with a smooth, ultra-clean finish.”

What our panel thought

Aroma: “A lot of hops character: melon, tangerine, orange peel, lemon, pine, garlic, green pepper, onion, and chive. There’s some honey graham cracker and a very slight grassy note.” Flavor: “Blueberries, pineapple, dank, green onions, orange in a Styrian Golding sense. Really nice mellow bitterness that doesn’t overpower and a malt sweetness that counters a lot of the hops presence. Mid-palate hops are somewhat limited but present with an almost pie-like character. No alcohol warmth to distract.” Overall: “A semi-west Coast–style IPA with some added nuevo hops character.”
