What the brewer says

“A cold-conditioned sparkling ale, Suncrush is made with crushed fruit, matcha green tea (a natural source of caffeine and antioxidants), and natural flavors. Suncrush is also glutenreduced and all-natural.”

What our panel thought

Aroma: “Slightly over-ripe tangerine but where’s the tea?” Flavor: “Tangerine dominates up front, but it’s not overpowering, and wellbalanced with the malt and bitterness. The tea character emerges at the end and lingers, giving a pleasant aftertaste of afternoon tea with biscuits and jam. Relatively thin in body, so it drinks a bit like a lightly sweetened ice tea. Finishes dry mostly from the citric acid.” Overall: “It’s all about the tangerine. It is a curious and creative beer that seemingly shouldn’t work, but is quite refreshing and fun. Don’t go looking for any particular beer character—it’s definitely fruit-forward and meant for crushing on warm summer days, not savoring.”
