• Ewe Ewe Yarns Wooly Worsted Wash­able (worsted weight; 100% su­per­wash merino wool; 95 yds/50g per ball): 2 (3, 3) ball(s) wheat #92 (MC); 1 (1, 1) ball sky blue #75 (CC) • Size 9 (5.5mm) set of 5 dou­ble-point nee­dles (for scarf ) and 16-inch cir­cu­lar and set of 5 dou­ble-point nee­dles (for cap) or size needed to ob­tain gauge • Stitch mark­ers

Gauge

18 sts and 22 rnds = 4 inches/10cm in St st. To save time, take time to check gauge.

Pat­tern Stitch

Stripe Rnds 1 and 2: With MC, knit. Rnd 3: With CC, knit.

In­crease by knit­ting in front and back of stitch (kfb) be­fore and af­ter marker; de­crease by work­ing k2­tog be­fore marker and ssk af­ter marker.

Scarf re­quires 1 (2, 2) ball(s) wheat and 1 ball sky blue; cap re­quires 1 (1, 2) ball(s) wheat and 1 ball sky blue.

Scarf

With dpns and MC, cast on 8 sts. Di­vide evenly onto 4 dpns. Mark for beg of rnd and join, be­ing care­ful not to twist. Place 2nd marker af­ter 4 sts. Rnd 1: Beg Stripe pat. Rnd 2: Work­ing in Stripe pat, inc 1 st each side of mark­ers—12 sts. Rnd 3: Knit.

Main­tain­ing Stripe pat through­out, rep [last 2 rnds] 5 (7, 9) times—32 (40, 48) sts. Next rnd: Dec 1 st on each side of mark­ers—28 (36, 44) sts. Next rnd: Knit.

Rep [last 2 rnds] 2 (3, 4) times—20 (24, 28) sts.

Piece should mea­sure ap­prox 3 (4, 51/2) inches.

Con­tinue in St st and Stripe pat un­til piece mea­sures ap­prox 25 (28, 311/2) inches. Shape End Rnd 1: Inc 1 st each side of mark­ers— 24 (28, 32) sts. Rnd 2: Knit.

Rep last 2 rnds 2 (3, 4) times—32 (40, 48) sts. Next rnd: Dec 1 st on each side of mark­ers—28 (36, 44) sts. Rep last 2 rnds 5 (7, 9) times—8 sts. Bind off.

Fin­ish­ing

Lay ends flat, run yarn through cast-on or bound-off sts, pull tight and fas­ten off.

Weave in ends and block lightly.

Cap

With cir­cu­lar nee­dle and MC, cast on 72 (78, 84) sts. Pm for beg of rnd and join, be­ing care­ful not to twist. Work in St st un­til cap mea­sures 1 inch. Purl 1 rnd (fold line). Work in St st un­til cap mea­sures 1 inch from fold line.

Work in St st and Stripe pat un­til cap mea­sures 5 (6, 7) inches. Shape Crown Note: Change to dpns when sts no longer fit com­fort­ably on cir­cu­lar nee­dle. Place 6 mark­ers with 12 (13, 14) sts between each. Dec rnd: Main­tain­ing Stripe pat, *k2­tog, knit to marker; rep from * around—66 (72, 78) sts.

Main­tain­ing Stripe pat, rep Dec rnd [ev­ery other rnd] 3 times, then [ev­ery rnd] 6 (7, 8) times—12 sts.

Cut yarn, leav­ing a 5-inch tail. Thread tail through rem sts, and pull tight.

Fin­ish­ing

Fold hem in­side and sew in place.

Weave in ends and block lightly.
