Con­tin­u­ing to work first and last 3 sts as I-cord edg­ing and cen­ter sts in Quilted Cross-St pat, work even un­til piece mea­sures 7 (8, 9) inches, end­ing with a WS row. Next row (RS): K3, *p1, k1; rep from *

to marker, sl 3 wyif. Rep last row un­til slip­per mea­sures 9 (10, 11) inches, end­ing with a WS row and re­mov­ing mark­ers on last row. Shape Toe Row 1 (RS): *K2, k2­tog; rep from * to

last 2 sts, k2—56 sts. Rows 2, 4 and 6: Purl. Row 3: *K1, k2­tog; rep from * to last

2 sts, k2—38 sts. Row 5: *K2­tog; rep from * across—

19 sts. Row 7: *K2­tog; rep from * to last st,

k1—10 sts. Cut yarn, leav­ing an 18-inch tail. Fin­ish same as for Whelk Slip­pers.


Us­ing tail, sew ap­prox 21/2 inches from toe along top of slip­per. Se­cure yarn by weav­ing through sev­eral sts on WS and then cut. Fold slip­per in half length­wise and sew

heel edges tog to close slip­per. Weave in ends.
